Perform as expected, and no chemicals!
***1-5-18 Update: 2 balls have begun to fall apart in the last 2 weeks. I will keep using the remaining 4 until they die as well. For the abuse they take, the money they save me for dryer sheets, and the reduced chemical load in my laundry I believe this life span is acceptable. Currently I am looking for either some dark wool balls or the rubber ones. I have been extremely pleased with these and will continue to use them.***I have used dryer balls for the past 7 years and believe they do shorten dry time. These have held up very well in the 8 months I've been using them. Within the past month I have noticed they are leaving white fibers on my black/ dark clothes. I never dry synthetic clothes in the dryer and don't overdry my loads, so I typically don't have problems with static. I would totally purchase a dark set if they were offered. We do not have any pets, so that is not a source of the lint.

Until a recent conversation with my sister, I really never thought about the chemicals found in dryer sheets. After talking with her, I did some research online & immediately got rid of my remaining dryer sheets. I looked at several different wool dryer balls before selecting these Heart Felt ones. One reason I chose this one is that the set had 4 balls whereas several others start with 3. I do have a family of 4 & do lots of laundry each week so I thought 4 would be better than 3. I have been using the dryer balls for about 2 weeks now. I *think* the loads are drying faster, but my dryer uses an automatic sensor, so I'm not exactly sure. I used to think that I loved the scent of dryer sheets, but now that I'm not using them at all, I actually like the scent of just clean clothes. Though I've noticed that my 16 year old son's marching band clothes are still stinky afterwards. I'm guessing the perfume of the dryer sheets was masking that before. Now that I am aware of that, I am washing them differently. I have still noticed some static on the clothes when removing them from the dryer. Not every time, but on some occasions. The noise of the balls doesn't bother me, I just shut the laundry room door. I do feel good about using these. I liked the packaging in the little drawstring bag.

Update: I just changed my rating from 4 stars to 5. I have been using the dryer balls for over a month now & I am really happy. I did just order another 3 balls & since adding those, I have noticed a faster dry time. The other balls were a different brand, but the only reason that I chose the other brand was because it was the quantity I wanted and they have turned out to be comparable.

I moved away from dryer sheets several years ago, both for ecological reasons and because I'm trying to reduce the number of household chemicals I use. In the past I've tried the plastic dryer balls, but it does without saying that they aren't much more ecologically friendly. For a while I was using dryer softener that comes in a bottle and is sprayed into the dryer, and I was happy with it, but static cling was still a huge issue. Since the last couple of winters where I live have been especially harsh and cold, static is a big problem. When I happened on these while browsing one day, I decided they were worth a shot, especially because they might actually end up costing me less than I was spending on the dryer spray.

These balls are a very nice size, large enough that I can cup them in my hand but they're too big for me to fit my fingers all the way around. I always use all six in my loads, even if the loads are small. They're only noisy if I have a smaller load and the balls are coming into contact with the dryer more. With large loads, this isn't an issue. I still end up with some static, particularly with larger loads, but far less than when I was using the dryer spray, which has been fantastic. These also seem to lessen my dryer time by a fair amount, though sometimes my sensor thinks clothes are dry when they aren't. I've also used these with blankets and a duvet, and they balls pummeling them helps them to come out fluffier and softer.

I do use essential oil with these, one drop per ball (lavender on three of the balls and lemongrass on the other three--the oils will stain the balls, but I haven't had any problems with them staining my clothes), and our clothes smell much fresher and cleaner than with any other dryer product I've used. There's none of the strong, chemical scent that I used to get with products. Instead, our clothes smell like they've been line dried. Bottom line: our clothes have never smelled better.

I absolutely love this product. I've been using them for a while now and the balls are still in excellent shape. I typically do around 5-6 loads of laundry a week, if not more, but I think these will last me a good, long time. I'd highly recommend them to anyone interested in getting away from chemical-laden sheets.

I wish I had known wool dryer balls existed years ago; I only learned about them this year, and have been using mine for around 4 months. They work SOOOOOOO much better than the plastic dryer balls that I had been using for several years. The plastic balls were very loud and would get black on all the points sticking out all over, I guess from repeatedly hitting the stainless steel drum of the dryer, but these white wool balls stay clean-looking. As for noise, they are bouncing around in there softly, but after being used to the loud plastic balls for a bunch of years, these make hardly any noise. For the people who thought they were too loud, they probably never lived with plastic balls before.

They work fabulously for helping clothes to dry faster and softer. I also use 1/2 cup white vinegar in with every wash load's rinse cycle to stop static and soften clothes, and I have NO trouble with static at any time, year-round. The balls are solid through-and-through, and extremely high-quality. I'm so happy with my purchase. (I purchased 2 sets of 6 and put the other set away for future use.)

I don't have any trouble at all with wool fibers coming off the balls and getting onto clothes, no matter the color of the load.

As for some other people's comments about a wet animal smell, I think maybe they were just over-sensitive or something? The smell on these is extremely negligible, almost non-existent, but if I put my nose up to it and smell hard, I can detect only the very faintest hint of what I would describe as "clean wool". I mean, it IS wool! But I find it very faint and very pleasant.
