12 Ethical Mother’s Day Gifts to Help Make Up For All the Sleepless Nights You Put Her Through

Ethical Gift Guide: Mother's Day

This weekend is a time to celebrate all of our first loves, the woman who wiped our tears, kissed our scrapes, and supported our dreams. The one who stayed up late working on last minute book reports, and woke up early to drive us to swim practice. The woman that worried when we were late for curfew, worried when we didn’t get a date to homecoming, worried when we went on our first sleep over. We celebrate the woman that we didn’t fully appreciate (maybe never will?) until we were kept up late, wiped tears, kissed scrapes, and supported our own little one’s dreams. And while we celebrate should celebrate her every day, this Sunday is the day we need to make it extra special. So, here is our Ethical Mother’s Day Gift Guide, including 12 gifts that may probably won’t help make up for all of those sleepless nights you put her through:

1. She has kids, so she has stuff. And lots of it. An over-sized bag like this ethically made, vegetable tanned leather one from Able is perfect. And look at the beautiful blush color!
2. An organic, fair trade, completely familiar ingredient chocolate box? Yes Please! These Theo Chocolate Mother’s Day boxes are just perfect. And don’t ask her to share.
3. This might quite possibly be the most perfect lazy day jumpsuit. Oh, wait, she has kids. There is no such thing as lazy days.
4. Jammies are always a hit for our mom. Here is a super easy, super soft, all organic and fair trade sleep tee from PACT. This one might actually make up for all those sleepless nights. Maybe.
5. Did you steal borrow all of her products? Why not replace them with ethical beauty with a best of box from the Detox Market.
6. She says she doesn’t need anything, and she’s probably right. But, after all of those late night papier mache projects, she probably needs a little pampering! Why not take her for an eco-friendly mani/pedi?
7.  Help her lower her environmental footprint with these incredibly comfortable slipons from All Birds.
8. Get traditional with flowers, but nontraditional (and absolutely gorgeous) with completely ethically grown, chemical free, and transparent Farm Girl Flowers.
9. There are so many great options when it comes to jewelry, but not all that many made from recycled metals. Treat her to this darling little cat cuff from Natalie Frigo. She sculpts these by hand, using reclaimed metals and designs them with heirloom status in mind.
10. Every mom is looking for that miracle product that makes it look like she hasn’t been tired for the last 2 years (or 5, or 25… or is that just me?). I haven’t found it yet (if you do, please contact me, like NOW). But, rehydration might be the next best thing. Give her an ethical beauty antioxidant moisture boost with the Thesis Beauty Chocolatier’s Gift Face Mask.
11. Why not treat her to a cooking class. After all of the things she’s taught you, let an expert teach you both something. Because, at the end of the day, she really just wants to spend time with you, right?
12.  Are you celebrating a new mom or mom-to-be? Give her an eco-friendly gift box or subscription from EcoCentric, and she’ll discover some amazing non-toxic, organic products for her pregnancy and for her little one like this body butter, micellar water, and this soak. They are offering $5 off any $45 or more purchase with the coupon code SAVE5.
Well… it turns out that this has turned into a personal “what I want for Mother’s Day” list (hint, hint), but it is all ethical, sustainable, and all really, really thoughtful. Show the moms in your life a little love (or yourself! There is no reason not to celebrate you, this Mother’s Day!).
Are you doing anything special this weekend?
